Thursday, June 2nd

Today our newly elected state officials loaded up and headed to the Capitol to meet and visit with their counterparts. On campus, the legislature met with Ben Odom and Joe Dorman while the rest of Girls State sat in a class taught by former Girls State delegate Chelsea Dyer on non-profits.

After lunch, the legislature reconvened and the courts met with Justice Norma Gurich to work on some case studies, Following these meetings, Girls State was fortunate enough to hear from The Honorable Jari Askins, Former Lt. Governor of Oklahoma. Patsy Chin explained eligibility and the application process for the American Legion Auxiliary.

We ended the day with whistle stop campaigns for the delegates who scored the highest on a test given earlier in the week for the opportunity to represent Oklahoma at Girls Nation.

The University of Oklahoma hosted a catered dinner in the Stadium Club as a celebration for all the hard work our delegates have done this week.
